Hang Types/Pan Direction

Postby gordmillar » Wed Oct 25, 2017 2:30 am

I have fixtures hanging on an upstage pipe. In the visualizer they are panning the opposite way than they do live. I am wondering if this is because the hang type is Normal. Would using a different hang type correct this issue? Also trying to figure out what the different hang types mean. Cant seem to find a description anywhere.

The pan/tilt you can invert in the headfile. You can report this also in the bugtracker, then it will be set as default for that fixture.

Yes I could invert it but the visualizer still runs the opposite way than they do live. I guess I could flip it while pre programming with the visualizer then flip it back when I am actually using the lights. That might work. I tried it in a different room with some lights that are on the floor and found that it does it with those lights as well. It is like the pan feature in the visualizer runs backwards no mater the lights or their hang position.

Panning in the head file, not in the patch, inverts the direction in the visualiser only. That should work.

Hi. I have the same issue for several moving lights.

Example:

I patched a ADJ Innoscan HP, 9ch mode. In the visualizer, pan and tilt goes the opposite of how the beam moves in the real world. I tried to edit the head, both by reversing the pan and tilt in the Edit head > View chans section, and also by pan and tilt invert in the Edit head > View general > Params section. But no matter what the visualizer goes the other way than the fixture.

Solution that works is to revert pan and tilt in the fixture's menu, from Normal to Inverted. But working with a larger rig this is really annoying.

Any suggestion?

Just tried it here with the ADJ Innoscan HP, 9ch mod
- go to patch
- set the cursor on the ADJ Innoscan
- SHIFT + EDIT CUR HEAD
- View general - Params
- invert pan and/or tilt
- SAVE HEAD
- fixture does the opposite movement now, only in the visualiser

Hi, thanks for very fast reply! Really helpful!

However I tried, twice, following exactly your steps above. But changing the setting from No to Yes in Edit head > View general > Params section does NOT affect pan/tilt direction NEITHER in the visializer NOR in the DMX output.

Only Edit head > View chans section actually changes the direction (equal to inverting direction in the Patch window) but reverts both visualizer and DMX which leaves me in status quo... ;(

Ah, funny, It did the trick to restart Magicviz!!! :)

Fixtures and output just flips instantly when heads are edited so I kind of thought it would apply for the software too!

Again, thank you for super fast help!!! ;)
