upgrade software and preserve my heads file

Postby bailuca » Wed Feb 05, 2020 1:49 pm

I already did the upgrade software of magic Q to ver 1.8.5.3.
Automatically was loaded the files of heads.
With the previous version I modified the files of some heads to integrate some palettes
With the new version my file was cancelled with the new and i lost my update.
There is some method for preserve my files? or for not update the files automatically??

If your modified head files have the same name as a file in the library, it will be overwritten.
If you change something in a head file, best to change the manufacturer name to a name chosen by you. For example your name. Except if you have a name like Robe, Clay Paky, .... ! :D

It's too uncomfortable.
If I modified many heads when I have to patch I must control If I have the modified file or not for everyone.
It's better to patch the original file with my modifies.
I only need that the library doesn't update automatically with a new version of software

Library updates automatically the heads that are standard in the library! It doesn't update your show files.

I've got some custom head files also.
It's clear that standard head files are not always accurate and may have missing palettes.
For example, I always use the manufacturer name "User".
Moreoever, I save a copy of those custom head files on USB keys, for any future new installation.
Those custom "User_*" head files remain after an update.
