Focus moving heads on tour.

Postby Koener » Wed Feb 19, 2020 11:06 am

When touring with a theatre show and 4 moving heads with precise positions in several cues, I wonder what's the best approach to 'focus' these heads.
Some cues use a position palette, others are just programmed in the cue.
Positioning everything correctly with the pan and tilt offset in the patch on a reference position seems the most logic way to do this.
Correct?

I should use always palettes for every position. And adjust the palettes.
Using offset is a fast solution, but you will be limited then at the end/beginning of the P/T range.

Adjusting p en t offset seems more logic to me than adjusting f.e. 20 palettes. Once the offset is correct for one palette, it should be fine for all others I assume.

P and t offset is also used to line up a row of moving heads so their center position is perfectly straight?

Yes, but if you add for example an offset of 10 to tilt, max. tilt position will not be 255+10, but 255!
