Intensity at Full DMX value 50%

Postby dbeattie » Sun May 22, 2016 6:29 pm

Hello,

How should I deal with a head that has a strobe feature built into the top 50% of the DMX range of the intensity channel? Specifically, I would like to take the Intensity channel to 50% (not 100%) when I hit the full key.

Thanks

Only thing you can do is ask the manufacturer of the spot, to split the channel. At Full will set the channel at 100%.

Or you can stop at 50% in patch windows.
View DMX, then you set teh max level of dimmer at 50 % in each head.

Test an approved with some VL2500 had lost dimmer synchronisation and works only betwenn 0 and 20 percent.

But then you can't access the strobe anymore!

The problem comes with heads like the Martin CX-2, where 100% on the intensity channel give you "reset"! Why can't the full key take you to the highlight intensity, not necessarily 100%?

You can set highlight and locate values lower than 100, so that is not a problem.
The problem is that Martin did add these control channels on a dimmer channel!

But my understanding (and I am more than happy to be shown wrong) is that when you hit the full key, the intensity goes to 100%, whereas it would be helpful if it went to whatever the highlight or locate value is.

If you keep INT button pressed and then locate, it will send the locate values.

Yes, that's great. Using the INT key as you suggest maintains all of the non-intensity setting.

Thanks,
